Hawaii Watercolor Society is sponsoring a workshop that promises to be truly memorable! Ken Hosmer, a laid-back "cowboy" artist will be showing us the reins. His simplified method of painting will definitely inspire you to paint more, paint with confidence, and allow you to step back and smile at your results. KEN HOSMER WATERCOLOR WORKSHOP

In this powerful workshop, Ken reveals `color secrets' and design ideas each day. He offers guidelines which encourage you to creatively interpret painting subjects. Painting demonstrations emphasize free flowing watercolor and cover a variety of topics, including landscape, flowers, human figures or animals.

Ken Hosmer has taught art workshops for over 25 years and is highly respected for his calm, supportive manner and unique use of color. Ken has been a guest workshop instructor for over 90 art organizations across the United States and in exotic locations such as Italy, Greece and Mexico.

The Artist's Magazine and Watercolor Magic have published a number of his articles including, "Four Steps to Creative Color," and "How to Paint Backward". His painting, "Spring Calves," and accompanying article were included in Splash 4: The Splendor of Light, published by North Light Books. His art instruction videos include "More Dynamic Color", "Secrets of Flower Painting", and "Hosmer's Famous Ink Sketch."

Cost: $395 plus supplies for HWS members; $435 plus supplies for non-members. HWS membership fee is $40 per yr.

ABOUT
The Hawaii Watercolor Society is open to anyone interested in the art of watercolor. Our mission is to nurture and stimulate interest in water media through education, exhibitions, and collaboration with other organizations, associations, and individuals.

All HWS members receive a monthly newsletter in the mail. The HWS Newsletter is a great source of information for shows, watercolor workshops, paint outs, and exhibitions.

MEMBERSHIP
Annual membership dues are $35 dollars a year. To join us, please download membership application form print out, fill in and mail with enclosed check.

HISTORY
The Hawaii Watercolor Society was founded in 1962 by Hon Chew Hee. He was honored as Artist of the Year by the Hawaii State Legislature in 1986. In 1987, the Society dedicated it's 25th Silver Jubilee Exhibition to him. Given Honorary Life Membership in recognition of his service to the society, Hon Chew Hee passed away in 1993. In his memory, a Best in Show award is given at the biannual Hawaii Watercolor Society's shows.

In 1991, in recognition of their long service to our organization, HWS gave Honorary Life Membership status to Karin Latham and Jeanne Robertson.

In 2004, in recognition of their long service as Workshop Chairs, HWS gave Honorary Life Membership status to Helen C. Iaea and Rita J. Gustie.
