March 2011 Events

**NOTE** Effective March 2011, Du Vin is joining it’s wine dinner and wine tasting events under
one umbrella – Behind the Cellar Door – on Monday nights.

March 8 | Mardi Gras
While the street party’s on, things will be a little quieter at Du Vin – sort of! Louisiana-inspired drink and
food specials, including chicken gumbo and dirty rice will be on the menu. At 10:00 pm, the Cask Room
becomes a night club. The tables moved out of the way to leave room for dancing to live Brazilian music
by Bernard, Rogerio and friends.

Behind the Cellar Door
A regular wine event held Monday nights – sometimes a tasting, sometimes a special wine dinner,
sometimes a tasting of other spirits, like sake, Champagne or Scotch. Starts at 6:30 pm. Seating is limited
and reservations strongly recommended. Call 545.1115 for information and reservations.

March 7 | Du Vin is closed all day for restaurant-wide private event

March 14 | Battle of the Pinots
Are you an old world or new world pinot drinker? Don't know? Come to this class. We will explore
Pinot Noirs from around the world to see how different climates, soils, and viticultural practices create
completely different renditions of Pinot Noir. $25 and includes a selection of appetizers du jour.

March 21 | Tapas Y Mas
Join us on a trip to Southern Spain.... and drink sherry! Sherry ranges from dry to sweet and pairs
exceptionally well with a variety of foods. Let's put sherry to the test. We will taste a fino, oloroso,
oloroso dulce and pedro ximenez; each will be paired with a small plate prepared by Chef James
Rosenberry. $35.

March 28 | Scotch Whisky Tasting
Hosted by a real-life Scottish person! Join Jo McGarry Curran, food fan and Hawaii’s own Single Malt
Scotch Ambassador as she takes you on a Scotch adventure. Learn a bit about history and Scotch
making and taste some golden spirits from four different distilleries (such as Dalwhinnie, Laphroaig,
Lagavulin, and Talisker). Food pairings include oyster shooters with shiso and wasabi, grilled
prosciutto wrapped in fresh mozzarella, mustard-braised lamb shank, and a fresh berry-oat
mascarpone parfait. Seating is limited and reservations required. $65.

March 18 | Hops & Grinds Beer Dinner Series
A monthly event featuring unique pairings of artisan and craft beers and a multi-course course food
menu. Themes change monthly and dinners are hosted by beer aficionado Andy Baker. $50 per person
(plus tax and gratuity). Reception starts at 6:00 pm. Limited seating and reservations required. Call 545-
1115 for information and reservations.
This month, ring in a change of seasons with food and drink. Spring Beers – Celebrate the passing of
winter and chase away the winter blues! The night’s menu includes barbequed Fanny Bay oysters with
poblano pepper relish and Tabasco butter, spicy hoisin guava baby back ribs with mango ‘slaw, honey
mustard grilled beef short ribs with Maui onion mashers, asparagus and sweet Kahuku corn, finished with
a fresh thyme cream, and a buttermilk panna cotta with a blackberry compote. Beer pairings include Sam
