Official HawaiiSlam - Press Release: Another quality show coming on March 5th 2009


PRESS RELEASE:

The 6th official HawaiiSlam season rolls on with its monthly qualifiers at First Thursdays (March 5th, 2009). This slam will be the "last chance slam" for poets to qualify for the HawaiiSlam Finals on April 2nd that will determine the team to represent Hawaii at the 2009 National Poetry Slam in Florida.

The feature poets for this show are the SpillJoy Ensemble, a group of twentysomethings who perform spoken word theater at its most dynamic. It combines four of the most acclaimed young performance poets from all corners of the country: Danny Sherrard (National & World Cup Champion), Shira Erlichman (Pushcart Prize nominee), Ken Arkind (National Poetry Slam Champion), and Jon Sands (Louder Arts New York City Slam Team). As always, the night will be hosted by Kealoha and will feature live painters, touring poets, and a guest DJ providing turntable sorcery throughout the evening.

The Cupola Theatre is located on the second floor of the Honolulu Design Center at 1250 Kapiolani Blvd. Free garage parking is available through the Piikoi Street entrance.
