• Official HawaiiSlam - Press Release: Another quality show coming on February 5ht 2009

PRESS RELEASE:

First Thursdays is temporarily relocating to the Cupola Theatre on February 5th, 2009, as its 6th official season rolls on with its monthly qualifiers. The top three poets will qualify for the HawaiiSlam Finals in April 2009 that will determine the team to represent Hawaii at the 2009 National Poetry Slam in Florida.

The special feature for this show is Tshaka Campbell, originally from London England and of Jamaican decent. He is a highly seasoned writer and performer who was a member of the 2004 Nuyorican Slam Team, the 2005 San Francisco Slam Team, and the 2006-2007 Hollywood Slam Teams. As always, the night will be hosted by Kealoha and will feature live painters, massages in the lounge, and a guest DJ providing turntable sorcery throughout the evening.

The Cupola Theatre is located on the second floor of the Honolulu Design Center at 1250 Kapiolani Blvd. Free garage parking is available through the Piikoi Street entrance. Doors open at 7:45pm, and the show starts at 8:30pm. Admission is $3 before 8:30pm and $5 after.-
