Official HawaiiSlam - Press Release: Another quality show coming on February 7th, 2008  PRESS RELEASE:The 5th official HawaiiSlam season rolls on with its monthly qualifiers at First Thursdays (February 7th, 2008). The top two poets will qualify for the HawaiiSlam Finals in April 2008 that will determine the team to represent Hawaii at the 2008 National Poetry Slam in Madison, WI.  Our feature poet for this evening is Tshaka Menelik Imhotep Campbell. Originally from London England and of Jamaican decent, Tshaka has been writing poetry for 10 years. As a highly seasoned writer and performer, Tshaka was a member of the 2004 Nuyorican Slam Team, the 2005 San Francisco Slam Team, and the 2006-2007 Hollywood Slam team. As always, the night will be hosted by Kealoha, and will feature live painters, massages in the lounge, and a guest DJ providing turntable sorcery throughout the evening.First Thursdays is the largest registered poetry slam in the world (attendance of 600+), and takes place at the Hawaiian Hut on every first Thursday of the month. Hawaiian Hut is located on the Ala Moana Hotel grounds, near the diamond head side of the Ala Moana shopping center. Doors open at 7:45pm, and the show starts at 8:30pm. Admission is $3 before 8:30pm and $5 after.
