Official HawaiiSlam - Press Release: Another quality show coming on December 6th  PRESS RELEASE:First Thursdays celebrates the holiday season with a special "No Rules" slam on December 6, 2007. All team pieces, musical accompaniment, props, etc. are ALLOWED. However, the 3 minute time limit will still remain in effect. This event will not be a qualifier for the 2008 HawaiiSlam finals (to be held in April 2008).  Our guest feature for this evening is NerCity (pronounced "Inner City"), a seasoned performer who has featured on B.E.T.'s Lyric Cafe, the 2000 NBA All Star Game, the Nuyorican Poetry Café, and the Fly Poet Showcase in Los Angeles. He was also a member of the 2003 Oakland Team that placed 4th at the National Poetry Slam and 1st at the New Word Series in San Francisco. As always, the night will feature live painters, a guest DJ, and Daisy Maltese LMT providing massages in the lounge.First Thursdays is the largest registered poetry slam in the world (attendance of 600+), and takes place at the Hawaiian Hut on every first Thursday of the month. Hawaiian Hut is located on the Ala Moana Hotel grounds, near the diamond head side of the Ala Moana shopping center. Doors open at 7:45pm, and the show starts at 8:30pm. Admission is $3 before 8:30pm and $5 after.
