"Revealing Hues," Carrie Able addresses aspects of female identity and body anxiety. Her paintings feature women from various walks of life, from hula dancer to pilot, in poses that accentuate the model's favorite and least favorite body part. The paintings, dominated by the model's favorite color, are personal, psychological essays on female self-esteem. Able hopes her work will foster greater self-confidence in her models once they see that most viewers are unable to distinguish the flaw and asset in each portrait.

One of the fresh new faces at this year's Fresh F.A.C.E. of Nuuanu Festival is artist Carrie Able, whose paintings will be featured in a special preview party that kicks off Honolulu's fashion week from 5-9PM at Rumors Nightclub at Ala Moana Hotel on October 9th. The preview party will feature seven of Able's recent works. These paintings, held by models as they walk the fashion runway, are an effort to discuss the female form underneath the clothes

Able's show at the "Rumors" preview party is part of a weeklong fashion celebration produced by couture designer Takeo in collaboration with Sandy Pohl of the Louis Pohl Gallery. The festivities culminate on Saturday, October 13th at the Fresh F.A.C.E of Nuuanu Street Festival in downtown Honolulu, where Able's works will be on sale at the Pacific Traditions Gallery on North Pauahi Street.
