Official HawaiiSlam - Press Release: Another quality show coming on November 1st  PRESS RELEASE:PRESS RELEASE:The 5th official HawaiiSlam season rolls on with its monthly qualifiers at First Thursdays (November 1st, 2007). The top two poets will qualify for the HawaiiSlam Finals in April 2008 that will determine the team to represent Hawaii at the 2008 National Poetry Slam in Madison, WI.  Our guest features for this evening are Queen Sheba (National Poetry Slam Champion) and Solstice (world fusion band). Queen Sheba recently led her Charlotte, North Carolina slam team to a championship title at the 2007 National Poetry Slam. She has been featured on BET's Lyric Cafˇ, VH-1, and the Showtime at the Apollo. She has also been nominated for the 2007 NAACP Image Awards. Solstice is a live band from the North Shore that sings in Spanish, Rapa Nui, French, and English. Their rhythms celebrate good vibes and intense movement -- from seductive to festive. As always, the night will be hosted by Kealoha, and will feature live painters, massages in the lounge, and a guest DJ providing turntable sorcery throughout the evening. Hawaiian Hut is located on the Ala Moana Hotel grounds, near the diamond head side of the Ala Moana shopping center. Doors open at 7:45pm, and the show starts at 8:30pm. Admission is $3 before 8:30pm and $5 after.
