Description/Comments

The Grand Cafe & Bakery was founded in 1923 by Mr. Ti Chong Ho, grand father of one of the owners, and partner Mr. Pang. The original Grand Cafe & Bakery was located at 106 N. King Street where the Bank of Hawaii now stands. The territory of Hawaii and particularly downtown Honolulu was bustling with activity. These Chinese entrepreneurs were part of this scene. American food was served and confectioneries also offered.

The Grand Cafe & Bakery has been re-established in the former Wing Coffee building circa 1916. Our foods and recipes reflect a Honolulu of the early 1920s. We welcome you to the Grand Cafe & Bakery, your home away from home.

Enjoy fresh, tasty, seasonal foods, warm surroundings, and a special spot in downtown Chinatown!

Executive Chef Anthony Vierra has drawn on his years of culinary experience to create menus that are appealing, enticing, and affordable. Classic techniques, no ethnic boundaries.

Chef Anthony, the celebrated former sous chef of Hale 'Aina Award winning 12th Avenue Grill and Executive Chef of 'Ilima Award Winning Grand Cafe and Bakery (2006 Critic's Choice for Best in Breakfast), has created an eclectic menu that will entrance the palette.

Feel like an early bird? Our Eggs Benedict never fail to satisfy during Saturday Brunch. Grandma's Salty Pancakes will have your mouth watering, not to mention our favorite comfort food such as Chicken Pot Pie and Meatloaf. Looking for something a little more sophisticated? Indulge in our ever changing dinner menu.

Should you wish to dine with us before or after a performance at the Hawaii Theatre, please ask for our Prix Fixe Theater Menu. Grand Cafe and Bakery--the show before the show.
