Tom Tomita graduated from MUSASHINO ART UNIVERSITY in Tokyo, Japan. In 1974 he moved to California and attended the ACADEMY OF ART COLLEGE (now the ACADEMY OF ART UNIVERSITY) after graduating from Art College he joined HALLMARK CARDS, Inc. in Kansas City, MO. In 1981 he started to freelance as an Illustrator and Designerin Los Angeles. In 1991 he moved to Honolulu from Los Angeles - He worked as an Art Director in advertising design and illustration for a Hawaii company, while advancing in his field as an advertising illustrator. Inspired by the beauty of the islands he began painting watercolor stills of trees, flowers, tropical fishes and Hawaiian landscapes. He also does human and pet commissioned portraits.
