About Tom Purdy
Tom Purdy started in the restaurant business in Waikiki in 1971 as a busboy. After selling his interest in a 150 seat seafood house on Kauai in 1990 he left restaurants for radio. Ten years as a deejay on Kauai, in Honolulu and in Seattle passed too quickly. The radio business was changing and highly unstructured personalities like Tom were finding theÊcorporate culture unwelcoming. Stints as a caterer and inÊhospice settings sufficed to keep body and soul together but, things were brewing on Tom's palate. All those years around food service had left him with an index of tastes and textures. Taro, one of his favorite foods,Êwas underused and Tom started Taro Delight to address that fact. |
