Susan Brooks ventured forth into the many schools of art; realism, portraiture, impressionism, abstract expressionism, collage, sculpture, and even jewelry. While an art major in Southern California, she studied design and various art mediums. Her work has been accepted in juried shows both in Hawaii and on the mainland winning numerous awards. Sales of artwork have been strong worldwide.

Susan Brooks has lived in Hawaii since 1980 where she spends much of her time painting the beauty of the islands. She is involved in community activities having to do with arts including co-founding Arts of Paradise gallery with two friends in 1988 as well as Art Alternatives, an art leasing company to businesses. Susan has illustrated three children's books. Currently, she teaches children and adults beginning art classes at her studio / gallery in Waikiki.

Learn to Draw and Paint with

Classes meet once a week for 2 hours.
Beginning Basics, Structural Drawing, Perspective, Shape Awarness, Values, Shading, Modeling Forms, How to See
  • Weekly lessons take the students through simple instruction to use one's EYES instead of using preconceived symbols.
  • Students learn the use of right-brain "artist" mode of thinking as opposed to the left-brain's analyzing faculties to draw.
  • Classes are aimed at being supportive and encouraging for each individual students growth.
