Contemporary Children's Portrait and
Lifestyle Photography Joanne Barratt
 Joanne Barratt, the owner of Island Style Images, has loved having a camera in her hands as long as she can remember. While photography is a driving force in her life, her true passion is capturing the expressions of people and the relationships between them. "I photograph high school seniors, families and a select few weddings, however since the birth of my daughter six years ago, I have come to understand the importance of capturing the many milestones in a child's life and the ever changing and growing expressions.
As a single Mom, Joanne knew that Hawaii was the place she wanted to live and raise her daughter. "I love the sense of family and community here in the islands and have always known that Hawaii was where I belonged." Jordyn often works alongside her Mom and acts as an assistant but even more so as her greatest inspiration. Joanne's style is laid back and she strives to make people feel at ease in front of the camera. "It is a very rewarding experience to do what you love and to be able to make such strong bonds with the families I photograph. It is an honor to be a part of someone's life and so much fun watching their children grow."
Her passion for photography shines through the images she creates. She likes to capture natural expressions and the bonds between siblings, between parent and child or between husband and wife. She works in studio and outdoors and often turns the session into a play time that creates subtle expressions and playful attitudes that clearly reveal the spirit of her subjects. "The life of a child is remarkable and precious as they change and grow right before your eyes. It is important to preserve these times for the child to look back on when they are grown."
"I want to create images that make you feel, that tug at your heart, that give you a new perspective into someone's soul. I want to capture the special moments and the ordinary moments that we all take for granted. My photography is about life ... Real Life, Real Reflections." |
