I Love Chinatown Festival Series of Nonprofit Events Benefiting Honolulu
Official Press Release for May 11th, 2012
The "I Love Chinatown Festival Series" Summer Kick Off event will be the Juneteenth Cultural Celebration Block Party within the heart of Chinatown, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA.
In collaboration with Hank's Café Honolulu & The Dragon Upstairs, Rotary Club Of Honolulu Pau Hana Chapter, NAACP, along with participating neighboring local businesses, we would like to invite all to our Juneteenth Summer Kick Off event. The "I Love Chinatown Festival Series" honors the Juneteenth Cultural Celebration as its first block party of the summer. This diverse event starts a well anticipated series of summer block parties to be held by the local businesses of the "ILoveChinatownFestival.com" celebration. The Juneteenth Cultural Celebration commemorates the ending of slavery in the United States and the future of Unity among all Americans.
"On Juneteenth we come together young and old to listen to learn and to refresh the drive to achieve. It is a day where we all take one step closer together- to better utilize the energy wasted on racism. Juneteenth is a day that we pray for peace and liberty for all" As defined on the global website http://www.juneteenth.com
The I love Chinatown Juneteenth Block Party event will be taking place on Friday, June 15th, 2012, between the hours of 6:00 P.M. to 2:00 A.M., on Nuuanu Avenue, between Hotel St. and King St. in Downtown Chinatown, Honolulu Hawaii. For the convenience of many commuters, there will be a vehicle and bicycle valet parking services available, starting at 5:30P.M. This Free Event will have fun activities for all ages with various cultural entertainment including; hula, music, local comedy, poetry, dance groups, and arts & crafts booths. A group of informational booths will be there to help create awareness of local organizations within the community. There also will be various ethnic food & beverage booths to satisfy everyone's taste. For those 21 and up, an after party will be held during 10:00 P.M. to 2:00 A.M. During the block party there will be volunteer sign ups collected for the first City sponsored Chinatown "Adopt a Block" Cleanup effort. "I Love Chinatown Festival Series" looks forward to a very successful start to their festival series of block parties to benefit nonprofits of Chinatown.
