Join us at the Hawai‘i State Art Museum from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., June 7, for another inspiring night of music

and art as the Hawai‘i Youth Symphony concludes its 48th season with chamber ensembles. The Alumni Chamber Music Series will perform popular and classical favorites, along with contemporary and maybe even a tango or two. Featured will be performers who participated in HYS as youth; some of whom who have gone on to careers as professional musicians, and others who are simply lifelong music lovers. Kicking off the performance will be a wind quintet featuring HYS's newest alumni from the Class of 2013.

Get ready for another "Star Studded Evening of Jazz" in July. Last year's July performance on our courtyard was presented to a capacity crowd. This year, featured performers are: Shari Lynn, Al Harrington, and the Chuck James Trio. Join us July 5 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The Hawai‘i State Art Museum and the Hawai‘i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts would like to thank the United States Air Force Band of the Pacific -- Hawai‘i, and the Papana Group, Jazz Ensemble from the United States Air Force Band of the Pacific -- Hawai‘i. Those in attendance were treated to excellent jazz harmonies with a superb vocalist until the museum closed down. Amazingly, some of the members have only been with the group for three months, or less! We hope to have the USAF Band of the Pacific -- Hawai`i back in the future!

The galleries of HiSAM will be open during your visit.

Galleries are open from 6 to 8:45 p.m. on First Friday. As the museum's supply of chairs are limited, low folding chairs and mats are recommended at the second floor open courtyard, which overlooks the newly opened Sculpture Garden. Don't miss this special treat

ABOUT THE HAWAII STATE MUSEUM

The Hawai'i State Art Museum is located in No. 1 Capitol Distric Building at 250 South Hotel Street. The building is situated in the historic Hawaii Capital Cultural District, across from 'Iolani Palace and the State Capitol.
