YES

March 9 - April 20, 2012
Reception: Thursday, March 15, 5 - 7PM
Talk Story: Thursday, April 19, 6 - 7PM

ANDREW ROSE GALLERY is proud to present YES, the gallery’s first group exhibition at its new home on Bishop Street featuring selected works by gallery artists. Opening Friday, March 9, and running through Friday, April 20, 2012, the gallery will host an artists’ reception Thursday, March 15th from 5-7pm and an artists’ discussion, Talk Story, on Thursday, April, 19th from 6 – 7pm.

YES collects fresh work from gallery artists’ studios – new ideas, classic images, and never-before-seen museum pieces. Many of the gallery’s artists are currently exhibiting at institutions across Hawaii and internationally; YES is coordinated to tie in with their rich and prolific productivity as well as to introduce Honolulu to the gallery’s roster.

YES compares and contrasts the artists’ styles and content in works both mature and playful. From Wayne Levin’s and Andrew Rose’s abstractions of nature, Carol Bennett’s and Marcia Morse’s investigation of the female form, Abigail Romanchak’s and Dalani Tanahy’s concentration on their Native Hawaiian iconography, as well as Noreen Naughton Yida Wang’s and Linda K ne’s engagement with landscape, to Gaye Chan’s and Wayne Zebzda’s humorous use of skulls, Charles Cohan’s and Mamoru Sato’s interpretation of pattern in different media, as well as Vince Hazen’s and Bradley Capello’s address of kitsch and popular culture, YES celebrates the thoughtfulness and exuberance of gallery artists.

Established in Honolulu in 2010, the ANDREW ROSE GALLERY works with individual clients as well as international institutions to place important vintage and contemporary art significant to Hawai‘i in discerning collections.
