*** POSTPONED ***The Hawaii State Art Museum's Showcase of Summer Dance scheduled for tonight, has been postponed due to forecast of further thunderstorms. The Summer Dance program will be presented on First Friday, July 1st, 2011.



Join us on First Friday as the Hawai‘i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts and the Friends of the Hawai‘i State Art Museum (HiSAM) present Summer Dance, a celebration of our island's diversity of dance talent. Ranging from classical to contemporary/modern ensembles, Live from the Lawn performances include Iona Dance Theatre, Convergence Dance Theatre, Halla Huhm Korean Dance Studio, Bellydancers in Paradise, bharata natyam from Sonja Sironen, butoh collective Giinko Marischino and excerpts from PUJA: Fantastic Voyage.

Upstairs at Live from the Lanai, singersongwriter Mailani shares her awardwinning vocal talent.


All galleries of the Hawaii State Art Museum are open to the public during the event as well as the Showcase Hawaii museum shop. Food is available from Downtown@HiSAM and the following vendors on the Lawn: Soul Patrol, India Cafe, Le Crepe Café, Onopops, Kettle Corn Hawaii and Roots of Hawaii. This event is produced by Tim Bostock Productions and supported by the Friends of HiSAM.


ABOUT THE HAWAII STATE MUSEUM

The Hawai'i State Art Museum is located in No. 1 Capitol Distric Building at 250 South Hotel Street. The building is situated in the historic Hawaii Capital Cultural District, across from 'Iolani Palace and the State Capitol.
