The Mendonca Building's magical Courtyard is open again for First Friday in December to give you an opportunity to see some beautiful pieces of art and watch jewelry being created on the spot.    You can not only support the Arts but do some early Christmas shopping as well.

JULIE BONK, returns this month with Lala B. earrings, which are made with remnant pieces of Koa wood. Her designs range from unique and chic to organic and casual. Each piece is put together with great attention to detail and with a little touch of Lala (4 yrs) who is usually by her side "helping".

JEANNIE DAVIS receives her inspiration from living most of her life on the North Shore of Oahu. She has created jewelry for almost any occasion, gifts, weddings, just for fun, as well as taught others to make their own.

Most of the shells and sea glass come from our beaches here on the North Shore. This allows her to enjoy the days at the beach and make something to share with others. She also includes freshwater pearls and stones from around the world. Because she loves to share her love for the art of jewelry making, she invites you to watch her create something just for you as you wait.

Also returning will be ALESSANDRA JANN-JORDAN uses her jewelry and card making business as a therapeutic and creative release from her demanding job as a social worker. Every jewelry design is hand made using semi precious stones, fresh water pearls, Swarovski crystallized elements, vintage coral, a variety of metals, and hand glass blown beads - all collected from the designer’s travels around the world.

Her greeting cards are made from layers of beautiful designed and hand crafted papers, originating from countries as Korea, France and Italy. The cards are one of a kind and irreproducible, as the vintage elements used to decorate them are unique, recycled and sometimes, antique.

SHAYNE TURNER returns with her “Grand Strands” which are an extravagant array of precious and semi precious stones, ranging from rubies to aquamarines that capture the imagination with sparkle and surprise. Shayne Turner surrounded by the scenery of beautiful and majestic Temple Valley crafts this medley of uniqueness.  Stop by and view Shayne’s one of a kind Jewelry Art. Her inspired and hand crafted creations will make new memories and traditions for you, your family and your friends.

BAERBEL MILLER will return from an extended stay in Europe and will be introducing some of the great new fashion hits from Europe...”pompom scarfs”...to Hawaii. They are seen all over Paris and the rest of Europe as well. They make great Christmas gifts and are very reasonable priced.  She will also have many handmade scarves and throws and her original one of a kind purses.
MARION SPEERS will return to the Courtyard with her amazing needlework Fabric Art.  Having lived in Hawaii for the past 25 years, she uses her needles to create elegant works of art by stitching, rather than painting, onto canvas and fabric

She has been honored as a frequent prizewinner in local shows as well as being a regular exhibitor and faculty member at the annual international fiber-arts festival in La Bourboule, France.  Although not yet well recognized in contemporary art contexts, stitching as a creative medium appears to be gaining in popularity recently, with both national and international shows attracting considerable attention.   Map making is often done by needlework in China.

Her completely original “functional” works, such as her purses, boxes and Christmas stockings will be available as well.

Artists KRIS GOTO, SEAN GALLAGHER & AMBER CHESBRO who are upstairs in the recently renovated Artist Lofts, will also have their studios open for an early look at their new creations.
OTIS SCHAPER joins the Courtyard again with his unique blend of Springsteen and other contemporary music.  You may have heard him play with The Strangers at Jimmy Buffet's in Waikiki or the Pipeline CafО recently.   Come sing Christmas music with him.

Not to be disappointed if you are looking for food, ELGIN ONAGA will be offering his ISLAND KABOBS for sale all evening.  Along with meat and chicken, he has a veggie version as well.
Enter into the Chinatown Courtyard on Smith Street through the stand of bamboo at the Blue Dragon Gate or from the Maunakea Street doors.  This event is free and open to the public.
