Visual ART FEAUTURE
ARTIST: Ryan Greenly
“Good Times, Bad Times,
Recession, Depression” Mixed Media
2009
My work deals with issues of Armageddon, abandonment,
despair, war, state hospitals, and political turmoil. The work attempts to
juxtapose the “naive” nature of the 1950’s, with the harsh
reality of social injustices taking place behind the scenes.
Ryan Greenly (cont)
The 1950’s represented that quintessential
dawn of current social problems apparent today. The work centers on the
depiction of “truth versus false” realities. The paradigm of
independent media interpretation of history versus corporate media
interpretation is the departure of my content. My current work functions as a
gateway to personal narrative in conjunction with a global and sociological
narrative. I am also interested in the power of ambiguity within narrative
structure.
BODY ARTIST:
ArieL Eisen, “THINGS UNSEEN” is a
body art project. Several models will be canvases and co-creators of a reality
below the surface.

OTS (On the
Spot) has been performing for 9 years and is
Hawaii’s only Adult Improv troupe. Like most improv troupes OTS started as
a short form college improv team who made a name for themselves by specializing
in “short form” improv games. Through the years the troupe has
expanded their repertoire by adopting an improv style which favors character arc
& storytelling, moving from traditional improv to alternative improv or Alt
Improv. Alt improv uses the same theory and practices as traditional improv but
presents it more like a theatrical production.
This style of improvised theatre has allowed OTS to
showcase an arsenal of original themed shows like, "The Unwritten Works of
William Shakespeare", "OTS the Musical," and the group’s latest
production, the live-action 1920's Silent Movie-esque show, "HUSH!"
OTS is Garrick
Paikai, Rod Cachola, Jordan Savusa, Alissa Joy Lee, Troy Apostal, and Art Koshi.
The Group regularly performs on the first Saturday of the month at the Arts at
Marks Garage.

DAKINI: Formed
in late 2008, Dakini Dance
Company is Honolulu's first experimental
bellydance troupe. Combining Tribal Fusion and American Tribal Style bellydance
with an
avant-garde
edge, Dakini Dance Company adds a theatrical sensibility to crisp technique and
electrifying performances. The troupe currently consists of Beth Biller,
Jessica Rose, and Sarah Sonnett. Dakini Dance Company members teach classes on
Wednesday evenings at Manoa Dance Studio!
THE FOOL
TRUTH: A one man show of verse, based on the
fool in the old days of Shakespeare and the fool today who is you. See this.

.:::DJ EKO:::. "I feel loved and respected in the
music community. I hope that is because my love of music and my intention to
amplify the best and most beautiful shines through with every
set.”
DJ EKO was born into a deep friendship with music.
That relationship was fortified through 12 years of djing on the radio. While at
KZSC, Santa Cruz EKO took on the mantle of Hip Hop Music Director and built a
strong interconnected web with djs and artists all over the country. Outside the
station, she contributed to the organization and strengthening of the Bay Area
Hip Hop Coalition, which succeeded in linking all of the non-commercial urban
djs in order to empower them with the record labels and get recognition as well
as equal access to the recording artists that college-radio stations were
breaking in the 90’s like Common, Mos Def, Outkast, Busta Rhymes and
Wu-Tang Clan.
By 2000, Eko started writing music reviews for Urb
Magazine as well as being invited to as a panelist for both the Gavin Magazine
and CMJ music conferences, seated alongside Jean Grae, Talib Kweli, Toure and
Sarah Jones.
Currently, DJ Eko also known as “ekogirl”
has been consistently rocking crowds at several residencies in Santa Cruz (Beat
Generation, Kiss, Aqua Lounge) and the greater Bay Area (Spaces & Places,
UnGrammar).
