The Mendonca Building's Courtyard is open again for a First Friday celebration. As usual, there will be music, mixed media art, refreshments and a book signing, so, come on down!

Adam Palmer will be showing and all new series of black and white landscapes of Hawaii. Adam captures Hawaii from every angle from explosions of Lava on the Big Island to swimming with dolphins under the ocean to exploring a waterfall in the back of a remote valley. In addition to the 10-framed images on display there will be smaller matted prints for sale. He will also be signing copies of his book North Shore.

"Growing up out here in the country on the windward side of Oahu I really developed a love for all the different aspects of Hawaii's beauty. I've tried to include a little bit of the things I love so much about Hawaii and present it in the way I see it-- deep, mysterious and timeless."

You can find Adam's work at http://www.adamapalmer.com and on his blog at http://adamapalmer.blogspot.com

Martine Aceves-Foster is an accomplished Windward artist who is new to the Courtyard but not new to the art community. As a fine art photographer, Aceves-Foster presents her extraordinary perceptions of flowers as people rarely pause to experience them. In them, she sees the fabric of life, the brilliance of spirit, and the hint of life beyond view. She is intrigued by the way light, color, and shadow reveal layers of existence, mood and meaning. Her large-format photo rag giclée prints of digital and film images have been on exhibit at the Artists of Hawaii 2007 exhibit at the Honolulu Academy of Arts, Nohea Island Arts, The Honolulu Club (arranged through The Gallery at Ward Center), Ho'omaluhia Botanical Gardens, 1132 Bishop Street, Kalapawai Café, and South Street Gallery/Frame-Arts Hawaii. To learn more about the artist, you may view her website: www.MartineAF.com.

Returning to the Courtyard is Shana Squier who will be showing 15 paintings. Several new abstract pieces will be included, Hawaiian mythology, and a contemporary painting series "paint by numbers". Prints will be for sale, along with a 50% discount on 5 her older paintings completed within the last two years. Shana is excited to announce a (free) drawing for one of her paintings. Sign up at her table and the winner will be notified within the week following April 3rd. Please take the time to stop at her table and fill out a mailing list.

Also returning is Julie Schaper, who will be showing her unique and very colorful batik like paintings on rice paper, mostly with a Hawaiian theme. Additional work of hers can be seen on Printscapes.com.

Otis Schaper will be taking a break from his gigs in Wahiawa and the North Shore and will be on stage again with his mix of contemporary music. His CD's will be on sale as well. Multitalented, Otis owns The Factory, a North Shore surfboard manufacturing company, and shapes Chronic Surfboards. Schaper also plays guitar and provides lead vocals for local rock band: The Strangers.

Tina Young returns with her Luscious Lanikai Jam's and Jellies. Try a sample of her homemade mango jam, mango butter and other mango concoctions with cream cheese.

Original art work is displayed and Box Dinners are provided for sale by Kate Wagner in her Starpoint Café.

Enter into the Chinatown Courtyard on Smith Street through the bamboo at the Blue Dragon Gate or from Maunakea Street. This event is free and open to the public.
