MUSIC:
Family Dinner, is stiLL relatively new to the HonoLULU scene. Recently crowned the 'most kick ass band in town' by severaL knowing humans. FamilY DInner, has a huge horn section with a tuba, an original uke playing MC and manages to combine hip-hop, klezmer, dixie land, funk, and jazz with rooted local vibe.

Family Dinner includes: MC JOeL SPiral, Reginald Padilla, Alfredo Rivera, Christopher Guarino, Jay 'I remembered my mouth piece today', Quincy Dunker, Troy Swanson, and Johann Montero.

The originators of the group Joel and Reginald have been surfing and playing music together for a year and half. The band was born from a land lords, every Friday, family dinner. Where the 3 saxophonists jammed with MC Joel. More band members were recruited from the Army Brass Band. Several band members will unfortunately be heading to Iraq soon. This will be there last chance to jam before the tour.

The Deadbeats formed midway thru 2007 and are pretty much true to their name. They drink and jam and beg for change. With a charismatic, neighborly optimistic approach on life combined with Jazzy-hip-hopy-funky-rocky-super-dopetronical beats and charmingly lucid lyrics the Deadbeats will be the last to take themselves seriously, but seriously take you. The Deadbeats are: Harumi the Hymn: Emcee/ Garbageman, Ethan Capone: Keyboard and Piano/ Housewife, and Micah Mclaughlin: Drummer/ Wiseman.

SLAM POETRY: Ishle Park is a Korean American woman who is a world-traveling poet, singer, and the first woman to be named the Poet Laureate of Queens ~ the largest and most diverse borough in New York. Dubbed "the Queen of Queens" by her fans, the Borough President declared Park's birthday as "Ishle Yi Park" day in her hometown.

Park's first book, The Temperature of This Water, (Kaya Press, 1994), is the winner of three literary awards, including a Pen America Award for Outstanding Writers of Color and the Member's Choice Award of the Asian American Literary Awards.

Her poetry CD, Work is Love, includes tracks with Korean traditional drums, Spanish guitar, beatboxing, and music produced by Japan's critically acclaimed DJ Honda. Park has opened for artists such as KRS-One, Ben Harper, and Saul Williams, and has been featured at literary and music festivals, performing her unique blend of poetry and song at over three hundred venues around the world, including Cuba, Jamaica, Singapore, Korea, and New Zealand.

She is a regular on HBO's "Russell Simmons Presents: Def Poetry Jam" and was a touring cast member of the Tony-Award winning production of "Def Poetry Jam." Park is currently working on her first album.

TheaTRE: HUTC reTURNz: There was a time when the HUTC did crazy plays and skits for the rapture of all...that time is back and in one strange manifestation. This month HUTC debuts 'The Magic Pony Monk Musical' a thrilling piece of absurd theatre starring: Allen the uke playing, taro farming masseuse, Hunter Heavlin, Darrel Parfitt, SEE, Travis T, and other people.

Circus: Loco- Moco, might show up, who knows? He's a fine juggler and show-man.

THE DJ: DJ JouLZ shows up last month and this other dude is on the turn tables and he's totally down and just grooves his hour set in the later time. WHat a chill brother!
“The rhythms....._they are like telescoping, slinky time dilations, sexy and sensual, sliding against my consciousness. Seducing me, tempting me deeper. Writhing wormholes phasing into and out of different time space realities.”

THE MC: MC SeE is writing these words. He paints pictures, spits sermons, makes mirth, gets giddy, in a lucid lyrical loose lipped language linking rap n' poetry, classic & karmic soliloquies.
