Fire-working art maGic to CelBraTe the Free SPiRit, thiS is our INdePendence nIGHT. BY popULAr demand, MOCHEE, is sTiLL on display, her spatial carvings are joined by GINA HeNseL and emerging artist, ALEA. The music line up is iMMense, in from BOston to teach worKshops and light up the show is Iyeoka with partner B.CAP. Hip hop sparKs fire up local MC'DJ RisUP and BiG SteVE in thieR Direct Descendent rePresentation: HUNGER PAINS. QuADraPHONIX drops the dancE gROOVe fLavor, with drummer ELI CLeMens leading the sambA. BeLLY daNCe is the specialty of PHoeNIX.
MUSIC:
IYEOKA: Nigerian American, Boston Native, highly acclaimed poet/vocalist, Iyeoka Ivie Okoawo, returns to Hawaii with the support of The National Performance Network and partner B.CAP. About a year has passed since last we saw Iyeoka, she is here to teach a workshop, perform and collaborate with local acts, Tempo Valley, Quadraphonix, and Paula Fuga. Iyeoka merges poetry and music to inspire a new generation of audiences who demand more from the current direction of mainstream music. She has shared the stage with Gil Scot Heron, Jeff Robinson Trio, Vivian Green. She was asked to compose and perform a poem for a dinner event hosted for Paul Kagame, the President of Rwanda, she received a 2007 Massachusetts Industry Committee Hip-Hop Award for Spoken Word Artist of the year, and a New England Urban Music Award for the Best Female Spoken Word Poet of 2006.

Brian Capobianchi aka B.CAP is a singer/songwriter and front man/vocalist/MC for the rapidly rising hip-hop group The Press Project . The Press Project has shared the stage with The Roots, Robert Randolph & The Family Band, George Clinton and Soulive. They joined hip-hop legend Slick Rick for 4 days on tour in 2007 and recently returned from performing at the Bonnaroo Music Festival. www.thepressproject.com

DANCE:
Natalie is PHoeNIX: She continues on the journey of expanding her belly dance truth. The focus is Tribal Fusion Style Belly Dance. She has ventured into unfamiliar dance forms, flamenco, and street dance, to name a couple. They are slowly weaving their layers into her performance. Natalie has been performing with Shakti Dance Movement for a year. She is currently teaching at Manoa Dance Studio: sundays noon - 1.30
