Description/Comments

The bliss of this uncommon arts center arrives in fresh talent, new eyes open our hearts imagination. Taimane Gardener enters the night with unparallel skill on the ukulele, and embarks into an original collaboration with Quadraphonix. Live Roosters (not a band name actual living creatures) are part of Taro farmer Jason's original art installation. New arts from Joseph Carlisi in the main room accompanied by his good friend EJ. The stage is set off with an 8 piece band 'The Dinner' led by MC JOEL SPiraL. COntortionist Mary Chapman and partner Cheyenne. Looping beats into virtuoso guitar mastery is Tater. Afro-Cuban dance by Adele. SLAM poet TBA? Lifting spirits, inspiring creation, arrival becomes revelation.

Visual ART
Featured Artist: Joseph Carlisi was born and raised in New York City, his formative years were spent in the heart of one of the world's absolute centers of art and fashion. His mother, a highly trained and talented painter and weaver, worked as a restoration specialist of Renaissance paintings and tapestries at New York's Metropolitan Museum Of Art. Her tutelage and that of another New York artist shaped his future as a painter. Joseph's father was involved in the manufacturing of fashion apparel in the hub of New York's garment district.

Carlisi earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees at Hunter College in New York and then went on to further graduate studies at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

In 1994, Carlisi was invited into an intense, close association with shamanic philosopher/anthropologist/author Carlos Castaneda. This relationship significantly enriched and expanded the breadth of Joseph's artistic vision. It ended with Castaneda's passing in 1998.

"My intent is to transport the viewer's perception into a very real world of mystery, magic, awe and playfulness where there are no limits or boundaries. Modern culture has systematically replaced that world with elements that are routinely predictable, mundane, emotionally flat and inevitably boring. Original, imaginative, fearless art is one of the few antidotes available to us."

Feature Artist: E.J. Heroldt was born and raised in West Berlin, Germany during the 1960's and 1970's amidst the anarchic activism characterizing that era. In the 1980's, E.J. split time between Florence and Ibiza, Spain were he was instrumental in the development of Ibiza fashion and its legendary nightlife scene. After moving to Hawai`i in the early 1990's, E.J. developed his interest in photography and created several lines of unique Hawaiian postcards. E.J.'s artistic maturation brought him back to painting in 2005, this time choosing acrylic on canvas, intrigued by the infinite possibility it gave him to express and create.
"Art is what you can get away with!" - Andy Warhol

Emerging Artist: Kamahi Horticulture (Jason Silverstein) is kicking off the start of peak floral season in Hawaii with a very special tropical flower design show. Hand selected Hawaiian tropical heleconia and gingers will be featured along with a very unique aray of foliage and accents. These designs are big, bold, massive stems, deep strong colors; beautiful vase ware will set these pieces off along with speacial surprises never before featured in floral designs anywhere....ever. Bringing together all the beauty of a Hawaiian homestead feel into several concise designs these floral arrangements are truly larger than life. Accentuating the beauty of the ordinary is the gist of this show. Because live farm animals will be featured with the floral designs we ask that this be a no pets event. i.e. no dogs. thank you. Jason will also be featuring a series of drawings and oil paintings.
