This First Friday we pay homage to Martin Luther King, Jr on this the 20th anniversary of the Holiday in Hawaii and his birthday January 15, 1929. And Queen Liliuokalani and the Hawaiian Kingdom which was overthrown on January 17, 1893.

View the artworks, which depict Martin Luther King, Jr. They were donated to the Peace Center by Charles & Sandy Moose – former Chief Moose now a member of HPD.

HONOLULU: JANUARY 2, 2008 -- The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.�Coalition-Hawai`i reminds the community that time grows short should you want your organization represented as a group in the Monday, January 21, 2008, parade or to be a vendor at the post-parade�celebration in Kapiolani Park. Celebrating our 20th year since Hawai`i legally established the�holiday, our MLK Day parade is truly “the people's parade.” We have no staff, only a small group of volunteers working with little budget, and so our success is due to the combined volunteer support�of our local community and its rainbow of organizations.
