Join us at the Hawai‘i State Art Museum as we celebrate First Friday with a special Live from the Lanai event entitled Holiday Spectacular featuring “American Idol” finalist Jordan Segundo, Diamond Head Theatre Shooting Stars, Hawai‘i Vocal Arts Ensemble, and Halau Hula Olana. They will be performing your favorite songs of the holiday season from 6 to 8 p.m.

Performance schedule: 6:00 p.m.: Jordan Segundo, 6:05 p.m.: Diamond Head Theatre Shooting Stars, 6:25 p.m.: Jordan Segundo, 6:30 p.m.: Hawai‘i Vocal Arts Ensemble, 7:00 p.m.: Jordan Segundo, 7:10 p.m.: Halau Hula Olana, and 7:55 p.m.: Jordan Segundo.

Sign up at First Friday for our Live from the Lanai prize drawing. The first winner for our November prize drawing was Browning Clark. She won a gift certificate from Downtown @ the HiSAM for lunch for two, a HiSAM mug, a HiSAM t-shirt, a Kenny Endo CD, and a Darin Leong CD. Be sure to enter our contest for your chance to win!

Visit our art galleries to see the beautiful art on display. In the Diamond Head Gallery, our new art exhibition uncommon objects features craft media by Hawai‘i’s premier artists. In the Ewa Gallery, our art exhibition, Enriched by Diversity: The Art of Hawai‘i features artwork from the Art in Public Places Collection. The art galleries will be open from 5 to 9 p.m.

Grab a plate of gourmet grinds to go from the “ASAP Express” at Downtown @ the HiSAM, the newest restaurant in town, located on the ground floor of the museum. Do you prefer to dine? Dinner will be served in the restaurant on a first come, first served basis.

Don't forget to see the great art from the State Art Collection on display in the museum's two art galleries. This free event is presented by the Friends of the Hawai'i State Art Museum, the LEF Foundation, and the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism

You can enjoy dinner at our new restaurant, Downtown @ the HiSAM, located on the museum's first floor, which will be open from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. For dinner reservations, call 536-5900.



CURRENT EXHIBITIONS

Enriched by Diversity: The Art of Hawai'i features 132 works of art by 105 Hawai'i-based artists from the Art in Public Places Collection. Inspirational themes in the installation revolve around rediscovering Hawaiian heritage, Asian roots, social consciousness, and cultural traditions.


"uncommon objects" uncommon objects showcases some of the finest works from the SFCA Art in Public Places Collection produced from media typically associated with craft -- clay, wood, fiber, metal and glass. Many local, national, and international artists are featured, including Satoru Abe, Michael Tom, Claude Horan, and Toshiko Takaezu. Click here for more details.





ABOUT THE HAWAII STATE MUSEUM
The Hawai'i State Art Museum is located in No. 1 Capitol Distric Building at 250 South Hotel Street. The building is situated in the historic Hawaii Capital Cultural District, across from 'Iolani Palace and the State Capitol.
