Featured Artist: EUKAREzT
| Description/Comments |
A bazillion forms, styles, flavors and truths triumph together at ONG kinG. We are led by the Graffiti Art of EuKaReZT, this hip and deeply crafted artist is joined by up and coming UH Grad Student Ryan Greenly. In from Palo Alto, Grand Slam Champion Lee Knight Jr. blesses us with word wisdom. Ari the CLown has returned from the streets of Copenhagen with juggling purpose and poise. Theatre will be represented by a choreo-poem written by Shel Silverstein, performed by 7 actors: The Devil and Billy Markham. Music, Wut and JP warm up the stage with acoustic mirth, then Quadraphonix returns to ignite the night. Giinko Marachino performs a pink piece. Love spins reality into a frenzy of fearless freedom, this is live art now.
Visual ART
Featured Artist: EUKAREzT. Born and raised in Northern California, Eugene Kristofher began his escapade with art at the age of 4 with the help of villains and superheroes at the local comic books stores. Graduating from pencil to paint, he began going to train yards and under bridges to feed the need for greater "expression.
Later, a restless Eugene Kristofher made a big change shortly after high school. He and a couple close buddies bought one-way tickets to Hawaii. Immersing himself in the local urban art and tattoo scene, Eugene looked for the ultimate artistic outlet. Ironically, true inspiration was found amongst the poorest of the poor in India, Jordan and South Africa where he lived intermittently for several years as a missionary. After returning to Hawaii he married his sweet love and hooked up with a close knit local forum for the arts, Ground Up. Touting the message of compassion, faith and introspection, he continues showing at various venues throughout Honolulu and its emerging Chinatown art district under the name "Eukarezt".
Emerging ARTISt: RYan Greely. Started always found sanctity in the art room. He paints on found wood and uses acrylic, spray paint, collage, graphite, and photos. He is a Graduate student at UH of Manoa, and has lived in Honolulu the past 4 years. His recent work relies on questions of hyper reality and human insecurities. I find art to be a means for interaction between the viewer and the artist and the viewer with other observers. Art to me allows for the breakdown of social barriers. Where by allowing new thoughts and creative energy to exist. Art is life and life is art. Staying on top is the name of the game. One love. http://www.myspace.com/ryangreenly
