PACIFIC TRADITIONS GALLERY presents
Art Exhibition Promotes International Awareness of Peace
and Nonviolence/center>

Australian-born artist Michael Daly will launch his latest exhibition through his international art program called The Lovelink Project.

The show, titled The Lovelink Exhibition, A Retrospective, features 16 fine art reproductions of artworks by children and community members, collected over more than 30 years, and promotes international and neighborhood/domestic peace and nonviolence. “The project promotes the rights of children and under-represented groups by working with people on themed artworks” says Daly. “They are designed for education; to raise collaberation, understanding and esteem.”

The reproductions are considered collector's items, and will be on sale at the exhibition. The money raised, along with donations, will be used to fund The Lovelink Project, and ensure it's ongoing success.

The exhibition will be held at the Pacific Traditions Gallery, 19 North Pauahi Street, Chinatown, Honolulu, from Oct 5th 2007 to October 27th 2007. Gallery times are Tuesday and Saturday, 11.00 am - 4.00 pm and Thursday 11.00 am - 8.00 pm. The exhibition's opening night is part of the First Friday Art Walk, encompassing Chinatown's art district galleries, from 5.00 pm - 9.00 pm on October 5. This is a free public event.

The Lovelink Project was founded by Daly in New York, in 1985. His vision is to produce community art events and art exchanges. The art he produces typically involve large numbers of children and community organisations working handson.

Artworks have been produced and exhibited in Hawai`i and around the world, including New York, Moscow, Australia and even Bosnia. Eventually Daly wants to be working on the project full time so that a global tour can be produced.

The Project has been based in Hawai'i since 1996, on Kaua'i Island until 2002, and since then in Honolulu. Daly would also like to hear from people interested in providing funding or forming a consultative Committee, both of which will ensure that The Lovelink Project will continue and expand. The Lovelink Project is a not-for-profit business.
