FIRST FRIDAY AT THE HAWAI'I STATE ART MUSEUM ON AUGUST 3RD

PLUS DOWNTOWN @ THE HISAM AND TWO ART EXHIBITIONS
Join us as we celebrate First Friday on August 3rd at the Hawai'i State Art Museum. There's something for everyone, including Live from the Lawn featuring Weldon Kekauoha will perform traditional and contemporary Hawaiian music (6pm - 8pm), featuring songs from his latest CD, "Ka Lehua Ula." Weldon plays acoustic guitar. He will be joined by Alika Kalauli IV on bass and Bryan Tolentino on ukulele. The public is invited to the free performance.
You can enjoy dinner at our new restaurant, Downtown @ the HiSAM, located on the museum's first floor, which will be open from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. For dinner reservations, call 536-5900.
CURRENT EXHIBITIONS
Precious Resources: Precious Resources: The Land & The Sea explores our connection to earth and water and the impact of our natural surroundings on the identity, daily lives, and cultures of Hawai'i. Artists include Allyn Bromley, Robert Hamada, Kathleen Kam, Herb Kane, Wayne Levin, Hiroki Morinoue, Louis Pohl, Franco Salmoiraghi, and John Wisnosky. This exhibition has been extended to run to September 10, 2007. Free admission to the museum galleries.
Enriched by Diversity: Enriched by Diversity: The Art of Hawai'i features 132 works of art by 105 Hawai'i-based artists from the Art in Public Places Collection. Inspirational themes in the installation revolve around rediscovering Hawaiian heritage, Asian roots, social consciousness, and cultural traditions.
ABOUT THE HAWAII STATE MUSEUM
The Hawai'i State Art Museum is located in No. 1 Capitol Distric Building at 250 South Hotel Street. The building is situated in the historic Hawaii Capital Cultural District, across from 'Iolani Palace and the State Capitol.
