This August 3rd theatre, dance, music and gorgeous graffiti take center stage at oNG kING. The urban art landscapes of PANCHO arrive, these contrast with the abstract pieces from Mark Boneham. hIP-hOpALYpse is unveiled featuring MC's and Martial Artists, TEMPO VALLEY brings the sultry, hip-hop stylings, GIINKO MARACHINO performs a Kabuki dance, plus another 'Toxic Mayhem' BAD SUSHI ATTACKS with a legendary kung fu battle, HIGH RISK THEATRE performs comedy Improv, plus the world famous QUADROPHONIX, and DJ JOulz. Yes it is the final FF of the summer, beauty is boundless.

PERformance ART
HIP-HOpaLYPSe is a hip-hop theatre production, written and directed by See/Cristian Ellauri. Its cast of 15 is packed with talent, including MC's, INTrePID, and Harumi the HYMn, Martial Artists Justin Young and Michael Hamilton and Folk Singer Christina Nelson. See wrote and directed Jaguar Priests, a hip-hop theatre myth, for his Masters Thesis at UHM, it went on to be performed as part of the Hip-Hop Theatre Festival in Washington, DC in 2006. He also wrote and directed Chase a hip-hop theatre production starring Kealoha in 2005.

hIP-hOPALYpse is a post apocalyptic story questioning how to rebuild society after a devastating series of environmental disasters.

TEMPO VALLEY: In just 2 years Tempo has emerged as Honolulu's most beautiful, talented, mix of MC's, sensuous vocals and lovely beats. A recent cover story on the band solidified their success and strengthened their following. Tempo Valley's roots begin circa 2003, on the Windward side of Oahu, HI.

The musical collective Tempo Valley is a blend of sounds including acoustic guitar, reggae, hip-hop, mellowed out trippy beats, ethereal female vocals and poetry. With sounds and vibes similar to Sade, Massive Attack...

Seph 1 leads the rhythmic cadence, with Paisley adding a dreamy voice into Eugene 'Slo' Carroll's beats, Cellist Diane Rubio brings the emotive strings, and Jeffery James keeps the family name happen'in on the drum set.

Immediately the band finds a place for themselves in the minds and bedrooms of music fans overnight. "Paisleys' voice is beautiful, engaging, and celestial. It is that voice that brings you back again and again. Here she invites you into to the tempo, her sanctuary.
And that's where she stirs your soul with a intimate and honest approach." On the first single, "La Femme Nu", she sings of a hypnotic dancer as she lures a French patron who is willing to pay the price. "But how$much do you want to see..." On "Dream Away" she takes you on a path to love as she gives her love the wings to fly, followed by Seph 1, a zen-minded MC from the Microscopic Syllables.

They embrace the idea that music has no boundaries. "We just want to make music that comes naturally... We are open to whatever will come out of the sound booth. We are only channels...! Sometimes it ends up being a seductive blend of purely organic and harmonious poetry." It is likely that you could find TEMPO VALLEY in some dark club/lounge/arts center setting somewhere in the red light districts, but most likely in your bedroom with the lights down low and some incense burning.

Quadraphonix he's back! A month of SOuth AMerica has opened the eyes and ears of percussionist/composer Jonathan Heraux. He is joined by electric sitar player Shree Sagopan, conga player Eli Clemens, and new bass player Tino. Last month stand-up bass player Susan Cropp arrived and grooved tremendous, perhaps she will come againÉ

DJ JouLZ brings pumping beats, and hip moving funk into the mix.

MODERN DANCE: Giinko Maraschino, this dance company is bursting! Two debut performances are in store for friday. One is a Kubuki performance including 5 dancers, the other is an original composition in collaboration with onG king's Jonathan Heraux.
Giinko Marachino is directed by Malia Oliver, and includes Derrin Miller, Jamie Nakama, and more.

VIGALATE KUNG-FU: BAD SUSHI The night goes from worse to BAD as the Bad Sushi trio of Bobbi, Mikki and Eden do battle with some of Chinatown's scary kung-fu Villains! Bad SUshi is a local clothing and wearable weapons store, that just opened its new location directly across the street from oNG kiNG. They will be doing a crazy kung-fu show down to defend the good patrons of first friday from attacking bandits!

HIGH RISK THEATRE: Long form Improv theatre is not dead! This group pops its head into the mix for 20 minutes of laughter and weirdness.
