Join us for Live from the Lawn featuring Tempo Valley performing jazz, neo-soul, and funky eclectic music. The group includes Joseph Rosales, Eugene Carroll, and Jennifer Cua on vocals; Jeffrey James on drums; Chris Suesz on bass; Kona Askari on guitar; and Dianne Rubio on cello. The concert is on the front lawn of the Hawai'i State Art Museum for First Friday, on June 1st. Free admission to the concert and the museum's art exhibitions.

We invite you to come and see Downtown @ the HiSAM (read press release), a new restaurant on the first floor of the museum, which will be open for dinner. The museum and restaurant will be open from 5 to 9 p.m. Music performances will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m.


EXHIBITIONS
Enriched by Diversity: The Art of Hawaii, is a semi-permanent exhibition featuring 132 works of art by 105 Hawaii-based artists from the Art in Public Places Collection. Inspirational themes in the installation revolve around rediscovering Hawaiian heritage, Asian roots, social consciousness, and cultural traditions.

Precious Resources: The Land & The Sea, is a new temporary exhibition that explores our connection to earth and water and the impact of our natural surroundings on the identity, daily lives, and cultures of Hawai'i. Artists include Allyn Bromley, Robert Hamada, Kathleen Kam, Herb Kane, Wayne Levin, Hiroki Morinoue, Louis Pohl, Franco Salmoiraghi, and John Wisnosky. This exhibition has been extended to run indefinitely.




ABOUT THE HAWAII STATE MUSEUM
The Hawai'i State Art Museum is located in No. 1 Capitol Distric Building at 250 South Hotel Street. The building is situated in the historic Hawaii Capital Cultural District, across from 'Iolani Palace and the State Capitol.
