Each monthly event in the hidden courtyard of the Mendonca Building combines exciting artistic works, music and refreshments with a casual and festive atmosphere. This month is no exception. May's “One Night Stand” on Smith Street will feature three unique Windward artists new to the Courtyard. And the possibility, as well, of some exciting visiting Native Hawaiian artists from the mainland in celebration of Ma'oli Arts Month.Ê

Bronson Shimabukuro, of the Windward Community College Gallery will be presenting various examples of his stencil work. Some of these will be three-dimensional pieces.

Val Boyle will be showing multiple paintings of cityscapes. Two of these will be three-dimensional as well.

James Fulz is a printmaker who will bring 27 or more of his unique prints for display and sale.

Artists, Kate Wagner and Luke Thompson have their work inside the Starpoint Café, which you can view as you eat the dinner menu items created to order.

A band by the name of Junk Magic will provide music for the evening. This will be a departure from the usual Courtyard fare of contemporary Hawaiian sounds. Or will it?

Also featured in the Courtyard will be various dinner menu items created to order from the Starpoint Café.

Enter through the Iron Gate on Smith Street as marked by the Blue Dragon and his lanterns in the bamboo glen.
