| Description/Comments |
New and returning artists will contribute to the October edition of the One Night Stand during the Gallery Walk in Chinatown. Four hours each month, well-known and emerging artists are showcased within a delightful historic red brick promenade and in the festive courtyard. The public is invited to come and investigate excellent artwork, have refreshments and listen to wonderful Hawaiian music with Al Tringali and friends.
October's First Friday will feature two artists new to the Courtyard:
Donna Matichuk who takes a "less is more" approach to digital photography. Using nature as her inspiration, she finds beauty in close-up details or isolates a single subject as the focus.
Also new to the Courtyard is Deborah Pacheco, who will be presenting from her Earth series. She will include 3 large volcanos, beaches, mountains and even cities in watercolor, pastel and oil.
Among those who will be returning on the 6th are:
Marti Wiese Rounds, a colorist, who will present her tropical fabric paintings in watercolor that look much like traditional batiks. Included also will be her new exciting and contemporary abstract acrylics..
Ela Zapf will show a selection of pastels from her trips to Greece. Every house and every person tells a story. She loves to motorbike through the little villages to take photos and to sit in the local "kafeneon" where she can sketch the people and scenery.
Returning master ceramist Jeanne Nichols will exhibit her award winning ceramic designs of traditional Hawaiiana motifs and with some new and timely Halloween creations.
Arthur Nelander (view profile) will show his Digital Fine Art prints on canvas and paper from many of his major limited editions series.Ê
Al Tringali (view profile), guitar and Art Akina, bass, will entertain from their usual First Friday spot performing their ever-popular Hawaiian favorites right inside the Dragon Gate.
Dean Powell will offer his chair massage throughout the evening for those who want to relax as they enjoy the music and ambiance.
Enter the Courtyard through the open gate on Smith Street as marked by the Blue Dragon banner and located at #10 on the Gallery Walk Guide (Other Venues)
