| Description/Comments |
New and returning will contribute to the September edition of the One Night Stand during the Gallery Walk in Chinatown. Attendance continues to rise as the community discovers the hidden Courtyard through word of mouth and the First Friday website. Each event combines exciting artistic works, Hawaiian and contemporary music and refreshments in a festive atmosphere.
First Friday will feature several artists new to the Courtyard:
Paul Staub offers a mix of photography, sculptures and paintings. Included will be volcanos in oil, photographs in handmade koa frames and some sculptural pieces.
Fong-Ling describes her work as paintings in mostly pastels, covering still-life, landscape, and human subjects, with a strong use of color. She relates closely with each of her subjects, and every painting leaves an impression on her.
The work that Anita Benson (view profile) has chosen to exhibit reflects her love of dappled color, simple shape, strong shadow, and textured surfaces. The objects she chooses to portray tend toward thought provoking symbols.
Again, master ceramist Jeanne Nichols will exhibit her award winning designs in ceramics featuring dolphins, turtles and traditional Hawaiian Tapa motifs.
Arthur Nelander (view profile) returns to the Courtyard with Digital Fine Art prints on canvas and paper from three of his major limited editions series.
Dean Powell will offer his chair massage throughout the evening for those who want to relax as they enjoy the music.
Al Tringali and Friends (view profile), will entertain from their usual First Friday spot on the platform right inside the Dragon Gate performing their ever-popular Hawaiian favorites.
Enter the Courtyard through the gate on Smith Street as marked by the Blue Dragon and located at #10 on the Gallery Walk Guide (Other Venues).
