New and returning artists will contribute to the June edition of the “One Night Stand” during the Gallery Walk in Chinatown. Finally on the official map, walk-in attendance continues to increase as the word spreads. Each event in the hidden courtyard of the Mendonca Building combines exciting artistic works, Hawaiian and contemporary music and refreshments in a festive atmosphere.
First Friday will feature several artists new to the Courtyard: Joanne Barrett (view profile) will show her unique and personalized lifestyle photographs, which she describes as “Real Life in Real Reflections”. Also, an artistic duo presents Fishtitious! Color, water, bountiful, life, movement, and journeyÉ.capture the expression through the beautifully crafted glazed clay fish by Deanna Lieux (view profile) and painting originals by Janice Robinson (view profile) .
Artists returning to the Courtyard include Shelleen Lindberg of S Rose Photo Art who will be displaying framed scenic and floral photographs of Hawaii and Dr. Spencer Hamada and Michael Cheek with their cast paper sculptures which have the appeal of sculpture with the visual warmth of watercolors. Mark N. Brown will be contributing his plein art on site as well as showing some of his previous works, many of which will be recognized. Dean Powell will offer his chair massage for those who may be tired of walking.
Fred Gayagas, will be performing his contemporary and old time Hawaiian favorites under the tent.
Enter the Courtyard through the gate on Smith Street as marked by the Blue Dragon and located at #10 on the Gallery Walk Guide (Other Venues).
