Windward artists will contribute to the May One Night Stand on First Friday during the Gallery Walk in Chinatown. Finally on the official map, walk-in attendance continues to increase as the word spreads. Each event in the hidden courtyard of the Mendonca Building combines exciting artistic works, Hawaiian and contemporary music and refreshments with a festive atmosphere. May will feature two artists new to the Courtyard:
Ivan Krillzarin, bringing many new, creative and different examples of petroglyphs and Alyn Nishioka, displaying some of his many photographs of Orchids 'N Paradise in Bloom from his nursery in Kahalu'u.
As well as artists returning to the Courtyard, who include Dennis WIlson, bringing abstract impressionism, somewhat Fauvist with a lot of color and some line work.
Bill Dasher's panoramic photography captures a slice of life rarely seen in today's fine art photography scene. From local landmarks to vast remote landscapes you will do a double take at some familiar and rarely seen locations.
Brandon Avegliago and his group, Na Kukui Ho'oulu O Na'auao will present Pacific Island influenced and inspired pieces with three dimensional sculptures on the Courtyard lawn.
Jeanne Nichols will return with her Hawaiiana ceramic art along with Arthur Nelander who will bring an array of paintings, prints and ceramic sculptures.
Al Tringali, guitar and Art Akina, bass, will be in their usual First Friday spot performing their ever-popular Hawaiian favorites under the tent.
Enter the Courtyard through the gate on Smith Street as marked by the Blue Dragon and located at #10 on the Gallery Walk Guide (Other Venues).
